Trademark Important Update: Hundreds of Changes to the Classification System

We’re writing to inform you of a significant update that could impact your trademark filings. As of January 1, 2025, hundreds of changes have been made to the Nice Classification system, including numerous additions and a few deletions.

The Nice Classification system is critical for defining the goods and services associated with your trademark. Staying up-to-date with these changes is essential to ensure that your filings are accurate and aligned with current requirements.

To review the updated classifications:

  1. Visit the USPTO ID Master List.
  2. Click the Search button.
  3. Use the Sort By dropdown to select Effective Date.
  4. Click the Effective Date column to sort changes in descending order.

You’ll see hundreds of new additions and a few deletions that may be relevant to your trademarks.
